History and Development
Were jeans before World War II more likely to be found among American workers or cowboys, they developed after the war, especially through the youth culture, to a very popular leisure trousers in the entire Western world and beyond.
In the 1870s, Levi Strauss, who had emigrated from Germany, registered a patent for trousers made of tent fabric to sell to gold miners. Shortly thereafter, he made his pants from the blue denim fabric.
